CATHERINE PROUT -  Associate Director and Producer

 

Catherine trained at the University of Warwick with a BA in English and Theatre. During her time training her credits include Sheila Birling in ‘An Inspector Calls’, Ophelia in ‘Rosencrantz and Guildernstein are Dead’ and Regan in ‘King Lear’.

 

She is also currently studying for an MA in Acting from Birmingham School of Acting. Her credits include Isabella in ‘Measure for Measure’, Rat Wife in ‘Little Eyeolf’ and Chorus in ‘Caucasian Chalk Circle’.

 

Her other credits include ‘A Clockwork Orange’, ‘Jane Eyre’ ,‘Hamlet’ and ‘Inherit the Wind’ (Loft Theatre) and most recently Cecily Cardew in ‘The Importance of Being Earnest’ (Tread the Boards) and Cathy/Bertha in Polly Teale’s ‘Bronte’.

 

Her film credits include Jane in ‘The Old Lady of Warwick’ (KDC Media), Best Friend in ‘The Opportunity’ which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in the Short Film Corner in 2009.

 

Catherine’s credits for Tread the Boards Theatre Company include: Cecily Cardew in ‘The Importance of Being Earnest’ (Regional tour and Edinburgh Fringe Festival), Kate Hardcastle in ‘She Stoops to Conquer’, Lady Macbeth in ‘Macbeth-Live!’, Desdemona and Hermione in ‘Women in Shakespeare’ and Starveling in ‘The Most Lamentable Comedy of Pyramus and Thisby’.

 

She was also the Assistant Director on Tread the Boards Theatre Company productions of ‘The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde’ and ‘A Christmas Carol’.

 

 

JOHN-ROBERT PARTRIDGE - Artistic Director

John-Robert trained at Birmingham School of Acting where he discovered his passion for the classical texts. During his training John-Robert’s credits include Macduff in ‘Macbeth’, Armand Duval in ‘Camille’, Edward Ferrars in ‘Sense and Sensibility’.

 

John-Robert was lucky enough to perform at The Sam Wanamaker Festival at The Globe in London, performing the role of The Clown in ‘The Winters Tale’.

 

For the past two seasons he has worked with Mad About Productions playing the role of Wishee Washee in ‘Aladdin’ at the Gracie Fields Theatre, Rochdale and The Princes Theatre, Clacton on Sea.

 

John-Robert’s credits for Tread the Boards Theatre Company include: Jack Worthing in ‘The Importance of Being Earnest’ (Regional tour and Edinburgh Fringe Festival), Charles Marlow in ‘She Stoops to Conquer’, Macbeth in ‘Macbeth-Live!’. His directing credits include: Women in Shakespeare, Macbeth-Live!, The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde and A Christmas Carol.

 

This season John-Robert will be playing daniel in ‘The Complete Works of William Shakespeare – Abridged’.

MICHAEL EDEN

Michael Eden trained at the Mountview Academy in London in the 1970s Thereafter, he had a career in Educational Drama and Community Theatre. Recently, he has retired from teaching and is now a full time actor. Recently, he appeared as, 'Don Pedro' in 'Much Ado about Nothing' at the New Theatre , Portsmouth (2009)- 'Mr. Snake' In 'School For Scandal' at The Wilde Theatre, Bracknell. (2010). He has just finished playing, 'The Benefactor' in a British Council short film for Sabrewing productions- 'This Side of the Afterlife' (2010). As he relishes character work, he enjoyed the chance to play multiple roles, 'She Stoops to Conquer' - with Tread The Boards.  He appeared as Sir Charles Marlow; Jeremy the drunk servant; and the Inn Landlord. Michael will be playing the role of Hastie Lanyon in the autumn production of 'The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde'.

Andrew Maguire

Andrew trained at Bournemouth Arts Institute, and graduated with a BA (Hons) in Acting for Film, Television and Theatre.

 

Andrew’s theatre credits whilst training: Sorin - The Seagull, Simeonov – Pischik - The Cherry Orchard, Orlick - Great Expectations, Father of the Bride - Blood Wedding.

Professional credits include: Warwick Ghosts-Alive - Ralph Haywood/Sir Fulke Greville (Sudden Impact Entertainment), Cinderella - Buttons (The Panto Company), A Midsummer Night’s Dream - Puck (Crescent), The Castle Dungeon (Merlin), Dick Whittington ­Alderman Fitzwarren (The Panto Company), Journey’s End - Stanhope (Crescent).

 

Andrew’s credits for Tread the Boards Theatre Company include: Tony Lumpkin in ‘She Stoops to Conquer’ The Butler in ‘The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde’ Bottom in ‘The Lamentable Comedy of Pyramus and Thisby’ and Romeo in ‘Shakespeare in the Attic’.

Jennifer Hodges

Jennifer has worked professionally as an actress for the past two years, having graduated from Drama Studio London in 2008.  Trained in film, television, radio, corporate and classical stage acting, her career highlight to date has been performing at the prestigious Globe Theatre in London.  Since relocating back to the Midlands, she has enjoyed playing a variety of characters for Merlin Entertainment at Warwick Castle, and is delighted to be making her debut performance with Tread the Boards in Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.

Philip Jennings

Philip trained at Birmingham School of Acting where he took roles in The Father by August Strindberg, The Witch by Thomas Middleton, Widows by Ariel Dorfman and Tony Kuschner and Speaking In Tongues by Andrew Bovell.

For twelve years Philip was a member of Birmingham’s Crescent Theatre Company, performing in principal roles from Macbeth to Ratty in Alan Bennett’s adaptation of The Wind In The Willows. He has toured with Motley Theatre (Rosencrantz And Guildenstern Are Dead; Talking Heads) and reAct Theatre (Scraps!), as well as theatre-in-education company Quantum Theatre. He has appeared in the TV series The Mystery Files (Parthenon Entertainment) and a number of short films. Recently he has performed in Gypsy by Marcia Sparkes (Sustained Theatre/The Drum, Aston), Grass Routes: Cuttings (Birmingham Rep’s season of new writing) and Tread The Boards’ production of She Stoops To Conquer (Attic Theatre, Stratford Upon Avon).

Philip will be playing Utterson in Tread The Boards’ production of The Strange Case Of Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde.

Sarah Horner

Sarah trained at The Birmingham School of Speech and Drama through a 3 Year Professional Acting Course.

Since graduating she has performed a diverse range of characters throughout the versatile media spectrum.  

Recent credits include; THEATRE: Helena -A Midsummer Night's Dream-Palace Theatre. Athene-Women of Troy-Library Theatre.  Mona Kent-Dames at Sea-Library Theatre.  Emily-Our Town-Now and Then.  Hazel-Up 'N' Under-Palace Theatre.  Prince Valiant-Sleeping Beauty-The Roses Theatre.  Elvira-Puccinis Women-Birmingham Rep.  Petra-After The Accident-Birmingham Rep.  Mphil New Writers-Numerous-Birmingham Rep. TV: Sian-The Afternoon Play-BBC1.  Emma-Barbara-ITV.  Louise-Reputations-BBC1.   Sara-Townies-Pilot.  FILM: Heroin Addict-Judge for Yourself-Government.  Emily-Club-Electric Cow Productions. Claire-3 Stags-Low Budget Indie.  

Sarah can currently be seen in Vanish, Ocean Finance, Harris Paint Brushes, Online Bingo Friends and Thomas Cook Commercials.  She has just finished presenting The Big Secret.

This is Sarah's first time working with Tread The Boards.......

Katie Bentley

Katie Bentley graduated from Drama Studio London in July 2010. Whilst at drama school she won the opportunity to complete an actors workshop with the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford. This really ignited Katie's passion for Shakespeare. Whilst training her roles included Viola from 'Twelfth Night', Cleopatra from 'Antony and Cleopatra', Verity from 'Find me', Lyubov Ranevskaya from 'The Cherry Orchard' and Patricia Preece from 'Stanley'. Since graduating from Drama Studio Katie has performed in an outdoor production of 'Much Ado About Nothing' (Off The Page Theatre Company), where she played Margaret and the odd ball character of Dogberry. Katie is very excited to be working with Tread The Boards and is eagerly anticpating the opening of 'The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde'.

Giles Cornah

Giles trained at Birmingham school of acting, graduating in 2008. There he played in The Father by August Strindberg, The Witch by Thomas Middleton, Widows by Ariel Dorfman and Tony Kuschner and Speaking In Tongues by Andrew Bovell. He has since been on a long tour of Europe with the White Horse Theatre and done a string of commercials for brands including Jupiler Beer, Visa and L'Oreal. Giles has a background in mountain sports, particularly in rock and ice climbing which he practices at a professional level.

Dan Gough

Dan has been performing around Warwickshire for over 15 years now. Some favourite credits include Journey’s End, The Long and the Short and the Tall, Lady Windermere’s Fan & 4 Nights in Knaresborough (Priory Theatre), Who’s afraid of Virginia Woolf & The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Talisman Theatre), Hamlet (Loft Theatre), Queen of Queens (Old Rep Theatre, Birmingham), Romeo and Juliet & The Three Musketeers (Caramba Theatre Company, Stratford). He also performs annually in a charity show for the for the Made in 48 Hours Theatre Company supporting various local causes. Dan has also worked professionally as a Scare Actor for the Sudden Impact, Sweet Dreams and Take a Walk on the Dark Side companies. Last year Dan appeared in the short film The Opportunity (Crowd Surf Productions) which premiered at the Cannes Film festival.

Dan’s previous credits for Tread the Boards Theatre Company include: Dr Chasuble in ‘The Importance of Being Earnest’ (Regional Tour) Flute in ‘The Lamentable Comedy of Pyramus and Thisby’, Various roles in ‘Shakespeare in the Attic’ and Jekyll/Hyde in ‘The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde’.
